If you already subscribe to Fotor Pro, Pro+, or Fotor Max but still see a prompt to purchase Credits, you're not alone. This guide explains how subscription Credits work, why the purchase prompt can appear even with an active membership, and what you can do next.
Quick answer
- Your subscription does include a monthly Credit allowance—but it is not unlimited.
- Most prompts appear because your available Credits have run out, you're on the wrong account, or a high-cost AI task needs more Credits than you currently have.
You can wait for your next monthly refill, subscribe to a Credit plan, or upgrade your subscription for a higher monthly Credit allowance.
1. Doesn't my subscription include free Credits? Understanding your monthly allowance
Yes. Fotor Pro, Pro+, and Fotor Max plans include a monthly Credit allowance in addition to premium editing features, templates, cloud storage, and other membership benefits. Credits are the virtual tokens used to run many generative AI features—such as AI image generation, AI video creation, advanced AI upscaler, advanced watermark removal, and more.
Monthly Credits by plan
| Plan | Monthly Credits included |
|---|---|
| Fotor Pro | 100 Credits per month |
| Fotor Pro+ | 300 Credits per month |
| Fotor Max | 1,000 / 2,000 / 5,000 / 10,000 / 20,000 / or 50,000 Credits per month, depending on the Max tier you chose |
How subscription Credits are issued
- Monthly issuance, even on annual plans. Credits are added to your account each billing month—not as one lump sum at the start of a yearly subscription. For example, Pro's 100 Credits/month means you receive 100 Credits per month, not 1,200 upfront for a 12-month plan.
- Based on your payment date. Monthly Credits are generally issued around your subscription renewal/payment date, not necessarily on the 1st of each calendar month.
- Unused Credits can roll over. While your subscription stays active, unused subscription Credits can accumulate for up to 5 months. If you cancel, remaining subscription Credits expire when your subscription ends.
Membership vs. Credits: Your subscription unlocks premium tools, HD exports, templates, storage, and more. Credits are a separate meter for AI generation workloads. Having Pro/Pro+/Fotor Max does not mean every AI feature runs without consuming Credits.
2. Why does the system ask me to buy Credits? Is AI unlimited with a subscription?
No. A Fotor Pro, Pro+, or Fotor Max subscription gives you a monthly Credit budget, not unlimited AI usage. When your available Credits are insufficient for a task, you may be prompted to purchase additional Credits or explore other available plans, even if your membership is active.
Here are the most common reasons:
A. Your monthly subscription Credits have been used up
Some AI features require Credits to use, such as Advanced AI Upscaler, Advanced Magic Eraser, AI video generation, and other advanced AI tools.
If you use these features frequently, your monthly Credits may run out before your next billing cycle. Once your available balance is insufficient for a task, you may be prompted to purchase more Credits.
B. You're signed in to the wrong Fotor account
Your subscription membership and Credits are linked to the specific account they were issued to. You may have an active Pro/Pro+/Fotor Max subscription on one account but unused Credits on another.
Signing in with different methods (email, Google, Apple, or Facebook) may create separate accounts. Restoring a mobile subscription does not transfer Credits between accounts.
What to do: Sign out and try signing in with each method you may have used. Check Settings → Subscription and Settings → My Credits to confirm your membership status and available balance.
C. The task requires more Credits than you have available
Some AI tasks, especially video generation and advanced processing, may require more Credits than your remaining balance.
Check the Credit cost displayed before starting a task and make sure you have enough available Credits under My Credits.
3. What should I do if I need more Credits?
You have several options depending on how much you use AI features:
Option 1: Wait for your next monthly refill
If your usage is occasional, your subscription will issue a new monthly Credit allowance on your billing date. Unused Credits (within the rollover limit) will stack with the new grant while your subscription remains active.
Option 2: Subscribe to a Credit plan
If you need more Credits, a Credit subscription may be available when your current balance is insufficient. When prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to choose a suitable Credit plan and complete your subscription.
Option 3: Upgrade your subscription plan
If you consistently run out of Credits every month, consider upgrading for a higher monthly allowance:
- Pro → Pro+ increases monthly Credits from 100 to 300, plus batch editing, larger cloud storage, and more.
- Pro+ → Fotor Max offers substantially higher monthly Credit tiers (up to 50,000/month on the highest Max plan), plus increased concurrent generations and AI Agent limits.
